The Brick and Blocklayers Federation (BBFNZ) ‘Brick Veneer Best Practice Guide’ is the collaboration of knowledge from both aligned association tradesperson members and manufacturer/distributors. It is intended to set minimum workmanship quality standards for the trade.
“While there are a number of publications out that talk about masonry or brick veneer, the Federation firmly believes that setting workmanship quality standards is the responsibility of the Federation as a professional Industry body” states Federation Chief Executive, Melanie McIver.
Ms McIver also advises that the release of the Brick Veneer Best Practice Guide is part of a series of work intended to support the performance of Bricklayers which includes education and a robust assessing and reporting process.
The Federation has attempted to make the guide easy to understand so that anybody that uses brick veneer including specifiers, group builders, bricklayers, homeowners and council inspectors can clearly understand the performance requirements expected by industry.
Ms McIver advises that the guide will only be available electronically. “Our intention is for this document to be a living document” she states “We have placed some fairly robust document control processes in place which will allow individuals the opportunity to provide feedback and further technical information that will help this guide grow and stay relevant. For this purpose we urge users to check our website and ensure that they are using the most current version”.
