At this year’s Brick and Blocklayers Federation (BBFNZ) AGM regional masonry and brick and blocklaying trade associations agreed to merge to form a single, New Zealand Masonry Trades Association (NZMTA).
“The intention behind the merger was to relieve a number of volunteers from trying to run a member organisation in their free time.” States BBFNZ CEO, Melanie McIver. “The merger also enables us to consolidate resources to deliver a consistent, nationwide training programme and to focus on developing resources and templates to help our members meet compliance requirements”.
NZMTA intends to deliver six seminar sessions each year specifically catered for members, the first of these is due to kick off in early November with a presentation from Graham Burke, Scaffolders, Rigging and Access (SARNZ) CEO on a proposed solution from BBFNZ and SARNZ for brick and blocklaying scaffolding.
NZMTA annual memberships are $500+GST per company which provides free access for all employees to seminars.
